a lot of people mourned when BROTLOSE KUNST parted ways in 2002. but after every ending there´s a new beginning, so in the same year OHVO connected with KUNST d.R. and DJ SPINT and they put together ENGELSTAUB. this group follows the tradition of the dark and eerie BK sound but gets lyrically a bit more hardcore, telling stories of pain, drugs and paranoia. their debut CD features mighty 23 tracks (80 minutes of sound) with lots of guests from the TONTRAEGER camp such as fellow BK MC´s Mamut and Joka, Markee from Rückgrat, Bauxl and GC from Die Antwort plus Skero and Flip from Texta. the only bad thing about this album is, that it´s not available on vinyl, but honestly we couldn´t afford to press double vinyl... hiphop is NOT big business in austria. anyway, cop this record and listen to a cinematic soundtrack with lots of mad beats, cuts and lyrics.

finallly RUECKGRAT return with a new 12inch, that shows again that they are one of the most interresting hiphopcrews out of austria. "auf der flucht" features sinister production with markee talking about having to flee from the government because of his heavy lyrics. on the b-side he drops some austrian dialect raps that will leave listeners astonished how nice this upperaustrian slang sounds. twang gets busy on the 1´s and 2´s again with some precise cuts and scratches. a return in style!!!!

KAYO & PHEKT is the classic hiphop duo consisting of rapper kayo (linz) and his DJ phekt (steyr). their Ep is a fresh signal for all those people saying german rap has fallen off. kayo got more wordplay than 10 german hiphop records together while his partner phekt gets busy on the 1200´s. production was handled by megga, oh-vo and flip crafting the perfect backdrop for the intelligent and tight lyrics. the only problem seems to be: when is a full-lenght record coming out? get this record or shut your mouth.

this is the first record from an artist that does not come from linz. A.N.S is a viennese producer/rapper/dj who put out this nice piece of vinyl featuring production by A.N.S himself, flip and one of germany´s oldest and most prolific producer/dj marius no.1. this is the second tontraeger release featuring the young guns from RUECKGRAT that came out of nowwhere, meaning out of a small town 30km away from linz. on this record the voices from the oldschool hiphop group CRB out of linz were heard for the last time, as MEGGA concentrates on his production skills and his homie MARS tries to make a living from graffiti. "Finger von der Platte" has been one of the hottest joints of 1999 and still gets heavy spins by austrian dj´s up to today.
